Morgan Fenton

Every Morgan Fenton piece is crafted to order in Gherang, Victoria, 15 minutes from the Surf Coast. By hand, with care, precision and personality.

Morgan Fenton is a timber furniture company, founded in 2018 as a hobby turned passion.

From creating his first dining table for his parents, his appreciation for working with timber grew, admiring the fact that no two pieces of timber are the same.

He takes inspiration from the relaxed Australian way of life; balancing the traditional and contemporary in his furniture designs, striving to create beautiful furniture that functions.

Timeless design and long-lasting comfort are at the heart of everything.

Craftmanship

Infusing Surf Coast character and sensibility into each piece.

Morgan, a qualified Joiner crafts each piece by eye and hand. Customising materials and sizing to meet your needs.

Materials

Morgan works with the finest purveyors of timber, carefully selecting his materials.

While all construction is done at his workshop in Gherang, he sources from select local timber specialists across Victoria. All wood is kiln-dried and treated to a high standard to give it strength, longevity and character.

Morgan’s keen eye for materials lies at the foundation that each piece of furniture should be functional and durable.

  • American Oak timber has a coarse, open grain texture and a distinctive figured grain pattern common only to genuine Oak species. Colour ranges from a pale to medium golden brown tone. It stains well to a wide range of colours.

  • Victorian Ash timber has a straight grain but may also produce fiddleback markings and have visible gum veins. It has a coarse texture. The heartwood ranges from pale pink to yellowish brown.

  • Blackbutt ranges in colour from golden yellow to pale brown, with soft pink elements. It has an even texture with a straight grain, which makes it a beautiful wood to use in living spaces.

  • Messmate is a well-known Australian hardwood with timber varying in colour from pale browns through to light yellows with subtle hints of peach. Messmate is a hardwood native to Tasmania and Victoria and the tablelands of New South Wales and southern Queensland.
